Sinfonietta Passau under the baton of Eleni Papakyriakou invites you to its concert series ‘Horizons’ in May 2025: Look forward to an exciting musical journey with Scandinavian flair!
The German premiere of Hanna Blomberg's ‘The Importance of Time’ (2023) introduces a Swedish composer, whose music fuses the tradition of Swedish folk music with contemporary elements. The young, highly talented Passau cellist Lida Limmer will then perform the virtuoso and rarely played Cello Concerto No. 2 by Camille Saint-Saëns as well as the solo work ‘Lamento’ by Alexander Knaifel, who died in June 2024. The Symphony No. 3 by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, which reflects the vastness of the Scandinavian landscape with its powerful beauty, is a worthy finale.
